Throughout the whole month of December, the three chosen girls were finally able to begin the process of opening their shops/ateliers (fully funded by us). They were in charge of searching for an adequate shop for themselves as well as working together with our project members in Lomé to purchase the necessary materials and decorate the shop....

In September 2023, 6 (two hairdressers and 4 tailors) out of 13 of our girls passed their apprenticeship exam. The next step of our project was to have them all do further training to equip them with more skills. However, due to financial restrictions, we could only choose 3 girls out of the 6 who passed their exam. The...

The girls were put to test where they had to reproduce a specific hairstyle or clothing style. They were then graded by their bosses and the project YAGE team. It was our way to test their level and see how they eveluating.

Amid to the global pandemic of Covid-19, we (members of Project YAGE) decided to provide the girls and the bosses extra support such as food, soap and pocket money in order for them to feed themselves and families while they are home.

The "volunteering event" is a three days long event, when the girls share what they have learned with their community members, by giving/doing (them) something free (for them). In collaboration with Global Changemakers, we were able to put together an event called "Day of service", where the girls served their communities. The tailors came together...
